My Grandfather, Agisilaos Chasitzoglou, born in Thrace (Thraki), Greece. You'll notice two different spellings of grandpa's sir name. One was acquired in a New York City Greek newspapers obituary column. Which I acquired from Helem McCallum, (Petrides) recently from Raleigh North Carolina. The other spelling was acquired from Uncle Peters official citizenship papers, which I received from Helen Rice, (Petrides) his daughter. She resides in Tempe, Arizona. He was a watch maker by trade.
In later years my dad met Viola Kitsopanides who was born in Manchester,
New Hampshire, and were married. My mothers mom was a teacher in a Greek
school. Mom also played the piano as did my dad. Dad also played the violin
and mandolin. In their early years I think all the brothers worked at the
Mt. Washington hotel in New Hampshire.
They all seemed to settle in New York City, my dad going partners on a house with his sister and brother-in-law Gus, in Brooklyn. Except for my Uncle Teddy who stayed in Worcester Mass. and finally opened his own Restaurant. My Aunt Esta was a housewife and mother to three children, Liberty, James and Jessie. She passed away when I was a young boy, and I can still remember visiting her hospital room at University Hospital in New York City. Children weren't allowed in the rooms and my dad and Uncle Pete put a trench coat over my shoulders, along with his hat, and they walked me right past the guards on duty. Aunt Esta died shortly after that, of a cancerous brain tumor.. Sotorios and Viola Petrides had five children, George, Anthony, Ernest, Theodore and Elaine. Elaine married James Quinn and had two sons, James, Paul Quinn. George married Francis and had three children, Cynthia, Steven, Michael. He went on to work for the CIA for most of his adult working years and spent most of that time abroad in the far east. Anthony married Janet Werkheiser and adopted a baby girl, Valerie. Anthony was a medic in the U.S. Navy until he retired due to extreme stress, related to his many Viet Nam tours of duty. He was never the same after that, and finally took his own life in Tampa Florida, while being incarcerated for some minor infraction. Ernest married Carol and had three children Kathy, Thomas, Phillip. He is a cabinet maker somewhere in Texas. I married Eileen Ellis and had two children, Darlene, Theodore. I later adopted MaryJo Goss who was the biological daughter of Eileen Ellis. She also had a son John Dunbar, and another daughter who was given up for adoption at birth, her name was Deborah and the fathers name was Richard Doyle. I've been separated from Eileen since the early 1980's. Shortly afterwards meeting Marie Pierro whom I've been with ever since. Marie and I had a son, Michael Theodore Petrides. My wife Eileen passed away September 22, 2001. I was taken out of High School by my father who enrolled me into Delehanty Institute for auto repairs. I worked in that field for a few years and then was lucky enough to land a union job in heavy construction with the Operating Engineers Local 15C in New York City. I retired, December, 2001 after 30 years service. A few of the projects I worked on were: Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Westchester County, N.Y., The World Trade Center, The Tram from Manhattan to Welfare Island, now Named Roosevelt Island, the new Madison Square Garden, the Subway System from Jamaica, Queens to JFK Airport. Along with many other buildings in Manhattan, and projects around the New York City area. Some of the companies I worked for are: Slattery Construction Company, Gerosa Crane Company, Underpinning and Foundation, Hallen Construction Company. We finally decided to relocate, and went shopping for homes in Savannah, Georgia and Florida. East Orlando is the spot where we found a nice piece of property 100' X 150'. We then bought a double wide 4 bedroom 2 bath mobile home and had it put on the property. We moved in, December 2001, right after Christmas. During this process we came across many obstacles, getting permits, septic system upgrades etc. due to it being the holiday season, which put us way behind schedule, about two months. So we lived in a hotel, living out of suit cases until everything was completed and we received the certificate of occupancy. Now that its over it seems to have been worth it! Michael loves it along with Marie. Michael's in a beautiful new school, which we were surprised, is harder than the Catholic School he came from in New York City. He holds a good grade average 4.0, and is an honor student. Michael has been on computers since he's two years old, and if it wasn't for him, this site would have never been put on the internet. So to sum it all up..... With my planning and layout and Michaels know-how here it is..........P.S. If your ever in the Orlando, Florida area feel free to stop and spend some time with us, we have plenty of room!!! P.S. If anyone related, or anyone viewing this site, have any documents, birth certificates, citizenship papers etc. or information on when any of our ancestors arrived in the United States, what ship they came on, what port they arrived at or what port they departed from, or accurate dates of any of the above facts. Please let me know via email! MEDICAL HISTORY: While creating our family tree, a few very important facts I noticed in the creation. 1. A very high rate of deaths in our family are related to cancer. 2. I also found a considerable amount of mental illness, possibly By Polar Syndrome. It is a unbalanced amount of 1 of 3 chemicals in the brain. It causes Manic Depression, Mood Swings, and actions not in character with the individual whom is afflicted with this disorder. The good news is, it's treatable! If you notice any errors......... Please email me at wb2trh@hotmail.com and it will be corrected.
